With to-die-for Ramen creations and a more affordable pricing structure than the rest, The Ramen Bar is now my go-to for lunch and dinner alike.

By presenting you with a choice of already curated selections, as opposed to flavored broth with your choice of toppings, you get a much more intentional meal. The ramen master (aka chef) Ken Tominaga gives you the classic Tokyo-style experience starting with a unique, lighter broth that packs a whole lot of flavor. It's harder to find in this city, especially when fat content often substitutes for development of flavor, so I'm really glad this place does it right.

Every component of their ramen is well thought through – all soft boiled eggs have been cured in a soy bath for 24 hours, and the broth is expertly prepared and tested daily. The ramen bowls are definitely the star of the show, yet their milk tea is equally delicious. Beautiful flavors mixed with milk and soft boba (tapioca pearls) make for the perfect beverage pairing (non-alcoholic, that is). Mixed drinks, beer, and sake are also available.

The staff are endlessly friendly, quick, and more than willing to educate you on the history and philosophy of ramen. The Ramen Bar leaves me feeling satisfied, delighted, and more literate in Japanese culture than when I walked in, which is an incredibly great value considering the affordable price.
